An incomplete spinal cord injury is when a person still has some feeling and movement below the point of injury.

Classifications of Spinal Cord Injuries
The American Spinal Injury Association uses a scale to describe a person’s functional impairment as a result of their spinal injury. The ASIA Impairment Scale is as followed:
A - Complete
This is where the victim has no motor or sensory function in the lowest sacral segment (S4-S5)
B - Incomplete
Sensory function below the neurologic level and in S4-S5, no motor function below the neurologic level
C - Incomplete
The victim’s motor function is preserved below the neurological level and more than half of the key muscle groups below the neurologic level have a muscle grade of less than 3
D - Incomplete
The victim’s motor function is preserved below the neurological level and at least half of the key muscle groups below the neurologic level have a muscle grade 3
E - Normal
The victim’s sensory and motor function is normal
